Lobuche peak has two different summits – Lobuche East peak (6119m) and Lobuche West peak (6145 m). Lobuche Peak Climbing involves the visit of popular places of Everest region like Everest base Camp, Kala patthar, Gorakshep, Tengboche Monastery and so on. From the top of Lobuche peak you get amazing views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and Nuptse.


Itinerary
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft.)

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, meet Himalayan Holidays representative at airport and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day will be free and you will have dinner at the evening.

Eve: Welcome dinner at Authentic Nepali restaurant with culture dance program.

Day 02

Gear Check & Orientation in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft.)

Prepare for next day flight with required equipment, personal material and take climbing orientation in Kathmandu from experience Sherpa trainer.

Day 03

Fly to Lukla (2880 m /9,446 ft) and trek to Phakding (2652 m /8,698 ft.)- 27 mins flight, 3 hours trek

Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu takes around 27 minutes time covering 135 km distance.  The flight takes you to the spectacular views of snow capped Himalayan range and landing on the Lukla airport, one of the most beautiful air routes in the world.

After a short break starts the trek following the trail leading to the northwest direction, which ultimately descends to the riverside settlement at Phakding (2652 m).

Day 04

Phakding to Namche Bazar (3447 m /11,306 ft.) - 5 hrs

We walk through beautiful pine forests and pasture land along Dudh Koshi River until reach to the Namche Bazaar, popular Sherpa village on the gateway of Everest region.  After walking half way point, view of Everest (8848 m) and Lhotse (8511 m) come into sight. Mt. Thamserku (6648 m) and Kwangde Ri (6624 m) loom along the east and west of the village.

Day 5

Acclimatization at Namche Bazar

To assist with the process of acclimatization, a day is spent in Namche. Visit the surrounding areas. Energy permitting you may traverse to Syangboche or even the twin villages of Khunde and Khumjung and return back to Namche for the night.

Day 06

Trek to Tengboche (3,867 m / 12,683 ft.) -5~7 hrs

After breakfast, we start our trek towards Tengboche. We pass through Rhododendron, Birch tree forest with magnificent views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kangtega Himalayan ranges. Later we descend through the rhododendron forest, watching blood pheasant and Imphean pheasant. As we reach the valley there is Imja Khola (river) where we stop for a lunch at Phunki (3,200m/10,500ft), next to several large water driven prayer wheels. The afternoon is spent climbing slowly on a steep trail to the Tengboche Monastery, which is one of the most beautiful places and ancient monasteries in khumbu region. It is a traditional place where all Everest Expeditions receive their blessings as they walk towards the base camp.

Day 07

Tengboche to Dingboche(4,410 m/ 14,468 ft.)- 5~6 hrs

In morning, we again visit the beautiful Tengboche Monastery and observe the amazing landscape surround it. Then we begin our trek through lush forest of Pine, birch, conifers and rhododendron. This trail descends down to debuche, crossing the Imja River before climb to Pangboche. From Pangboche, we have two trails upper and lower trails, most people choose upper Pangboche trails as it provides a flawless view of the Himalayas. During trail we will also visit pangboche monastery. Thereafter, we enter into the Imja Valley and confluence of the lobuche river. We then descend down to river and begin to climb up to Dingboche.

Day 08

Acclimatization day at Dingboche

After breakfast we begin hike to chhukung passing through stone-walled fields, Imja valley before glacier ridges. From hike trail we will explore the view of Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Island peak soaring above us. After an  hour walk we reach Chhukung, where we test our items of equipment to ensure they are in good condition or not. If equipments are not in good condition, Chhukung is the better place to hire new one. After that, we descend back to Dingboche for overnight stay.

Day 09

Trek to Lobuche (4,940 m/ 16,210 ft.)

Our trail continuously goes through the high alpine region. We climb up to steep trail where we find an array of stones with prayer flags. Next, we continue to Khumbu Glacier with spectacular views of great peaks-Ama Dabalm, Pokalde, Khongma Tse, Nuptse and etc. Then trail forward towards the Lobuche valley.

Day 10

Trek to Gorakshep (5,164 m/ 16,942 ft.), Visit Everest base Camp (5,380 m /17,600 ft.)6-7 hours

We walk towards the Everest base Camp through the Gorak Shep Lake. This trails in difficult involving rocky dunes and moraine formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacier debris. The walk is strenuous because of thin air in high altitude. on the way we will approach the popular Khumbu icefalls, located on the slopes of Everest. We get back to the Gorakshep for night stay.

Day 11

Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,643 m/18,514 ft.) and back to Lobuche Base Camp (4,940 m/ 16,210 ft.) 7-8 hrs

Wake up early morning and head towards the Kalapatthar, spot to view uninterrupted scenery of Mount Everest. Panoramic views of sunrise over Mt.  Everest and its entire surroundings khumbu Himalayas is amazing to watch. This is the best opportunity to capture the photo and video of the entire scenery of Everest region. Trek to Kalapatthar is tough and takes about 2 and half hours to reach the top of this black rock hill. Return back to Lobuche base camp for night stay.

Day 12

Lobuche Base Camp to High Camp (5,400m/17,712ft) 3-4 hrs

From Lobuche base camp, we move forward towards Lobuche high camp along the Lobuche glacier and with stunning views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Pokalde and other high peaks. After arrive in High camp, we setup our camp and prepare required meals. After taking meals our climbing guide train about technique and proper way to use the climbing gears and equipment.

Day 13

Lobuche high camp to summit (6119m/20,075 ft) and back to high camp. 8-9 hrs

We wake up early morning and start our journey towards summit. In the afternoon, strong winds make difficult to climb in high land. Following the guidance and instructions of climbing guide with proper equipment we ascent to the summit of Lobuche Peak through rocky and snowy path. After reaching the summit, we will spend some quality time to capture photos as well to explore the mesmerizing views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and many more. Then, we get back to the Base Camp for overnight stay.

Day 14

Contingency Day

Contingency day in case of delay, sometime bad weather or any other unforeseen circumstances make impossible to climb in planned day.

Day 15

Lobuche to Pangboche (3,985 m/ 13,074 ft.) 8-9 hrs

After taking breakfast, we descend down to Lobuche from base camp. We take our lunch on the way and further descend towards Pheriche with magnificent views of Ama Dablam from the distance. From Pheriche, we trek down through rhododendron and juniper forests towards Pangboche. After reaching the Panboche we can also visit the famous Pangboche monastery.

Day 16

Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (3447 m /11,306 ft.) - 5 hrs

From Pangboche, we trek back towards the Tengboche through Imja Khola. We take a lunch at Tengboche, we can visit the Popular Tengboche Monastery if anyone interested. After that we descend down Namche Bazaar crossing the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and passes through forests of Rhododendron and pine.

Day 17

Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,880 m/9,446 ft). 7-8 hrs

We trek back to Namche Bazaar.

Day 18

Fly back to Kathmandu

We take early morning flight to Kathmandu after long journey in Himalayas. After reaching Kathmandu, rest of the day is free for rest or you can also do shopping.

Day 19

Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour

Am: After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City. It includes visit to the Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square) – an ancient durbar (palace) with its numerous old palaces, temples and pagodas, the Temple of Living Goddess “Kumari”, and the Kasthamandap Temple, which is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree from which Kathmandu derives its name.

 

In addition also visit   the Boudhanath Stupa – an ancient colossal stupa and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world and the Pashupatinath Temple- the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River.

 

Pm: After lunch drive up to the Swayambhunath Stupa situated atop a hill from where you could get a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu Valley. The Swayambhunath Stupa is also known as the “Monkey Temple”!!

Day 20

Final Departure

Check out from the hotel and meet Himalayan Holidays representative and transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu for final departure.
