Koshi tappu lies on the flood plains of sapta-Koshi and defined by the eastern and western embankments of the river. Koshi tappu wildlife reserve has earned popularity as a name of Birdwatcher’s heaven since 280 different species of birds have been recorded in this area. The reserve provides an important habitat for a variety of wildlife, water birds including several migratory species from Siberia.
The Koshi Tappu bird watching tour provides a lifelong memorable opportunity to see some of the world’s most enchanting birds along with boating and short jeep ride in peaceful exotic environment. Koshi tappu is also home of the last surviving population of wild water buffalo known as “Arna” in Nepal. This place is known as bird sanctuary where people can observe water birds like Storks, Egrets, Cormorants, Ibis, Indian rollers to various species of ducks including flamingo and pelician in winter migratory season. Beside these, this place is eqully famous for other wildlife with occasional view of Bengal tiger, Leopards, Deer , Gangetic dolphins and gharial crocodiles.
Itinerary
Day 01
Arrival in Kathmandu. (1341 m)
Upon arrival in Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, meet Himalayan Holidays representative, assist and transfer to the hotel. At the hotel’s lobby welcome refreshments will be served and room check in assistance provided. Shortly afterwards there will be a tour briefing at the hotel’s lobby.
Eve: Welcome dinner at Nepali restaurant featuring cultural program.

Day 02
Half day sightseeing in Kathmanu, Fly to Biratnagar, drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (2 hrs)
After breakfast, go for a half day sightseeing. Visit Patan, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath. Later transfer to domestic airport and fly to Biratnagar. After reaching Biratnagar, drive to reach koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.

Day 03
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (1951 m/3 hrs)
Am/Pm: After early morning breakfast, go for jungle safari in wildlife Reserve for Bird watching. It is the paradise for bird watchers. It is the home of about 500 species of birds and some of them will be migratory birds from Siberia and Tibet during November to Feburary.

Day 04
Activities at Koshi Tappu
Am/Pm: After breakfast, go for a morning jungle walk. Do mild rafting at Koshi river and watch water birds. Have lunch and rest for a while.
Eve: Go for a village walk. Meet the local tribe Tharu people.

Day 05
Fly back to Kathmandu.
Am: Drive to nearest Airport and fly back to Kathmandu. Rest of the day is free on your own.

Final departure from Nepal.
Check out from the hotel and meet Himalayan Holidays representative and transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu for final departure. (Breakfast)
