This tour is the opportunity to explore Buddhist heritage sites like Mainamati Bihara, Salban Bihara, Mura, Itakhola Mura, Rupban Mura, Basu Vihara, and many more monasteries around the trails.


Itinerary
Day 01

Arrive Dhaka

Arrive Dhaka airport and be received by our representative and transfer to designated hotel. Freshen up and (if time permits) we will provide a half day city tour. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 02

Dhaka –Comila –Dhaka (200 km, 6 hrs drive approx.)

Morning drive to Comilla and visit the spectacular archaeological sites at Mainamoti. We will visit Salban Vihara the relics of old Buddhist Civilization. It is dotted with more than 50 Buddhist settlements of 7th -12th century AD. The attraction includes: Buddhist Vihara (monastery), Kutia Mura, Itakhola Mura, Rupban Mura, etc. The rich archaeological museum is also worth visiting. Drive back to Dhaka in the evening and overnight.

Day 03

Dhaka –Bogra (200 km, 6 hrs drive approx.)

After breakfast drive to Bogra. En-route you will enjoy the journey to cross through the worlds 11th longest Jamuna Bridge. Reach Bogra and transfer to hotel. After lunch visit the archeological sites of Mahastangarh and the Citadel. There are several mounds like Govinda vita, Khudie Patar vita, Mankalir Kundur, Porshuram’s vedi,Jiyat Kundu, the rich archeological museum will be very much entertaining.

Then drive 4 km to visit Basu Vihara. From the account of the most prominent Chinese pilgrims Tahien and Hiuen Tsaug mentioned that Lord Buddha with his 500 disciples visited Pundravardhana which is presently Mahasthangarh and preached his new Gospal. King Ashoka made a stupa on this site where Buddha explained his laws to the Devas.

Overnight stay Bogra.

Day 04

Bogra –Paharpur (55 km, 1.5 hrs) –Dhaka (250 km, 7 hrs drive approx.)

After breakfast drive to Paharpur and visit the impressive Paharpur monasteries and the spectacular Buddhist monuments. The historically Paharpur Vihara is the treasured heritage of the world which has got the huge monastery with 177 monastic cells including with courtyard. A site museum houses with the rich collections of recovered objects, black stone sculptures, images of gods and goddess of Hindu epics. After lunch drive to Dhaka and transfer to hotel and stay overnight.

Day 05

City Temples Tour

Today we will explore the city temples. Morning visit Dharmarajika Buddhist Temple at Kamlapur. This was established in 1960 at the initiative of bishuddhananda mahathera. It acts as the cultural and regional centre of Bangladeshi Buddhists. It has a large collection of Buddha statues.

Then visit Merul Badda Buddha Temple and Shakyamuni Temple in Mirpur.

Overnight stay Dhaka.

Day 06

Depart Dhaka

After breakfast free at your own and transfer to airport for onward destination.
