At the same time this trek offers the opportunity to explore ancient some lhakhangs, dzongs, and villages with culture and life style of Bhutanese.


Itinerary
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport. Upon arrival meet assist and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is free for rest and refreshment.

Eve: Welcome dinner at authentic Nepal Restaurant followed by trip briefing.

Overnight at Hotel Yak & Yeit.

Day 02

Fly to Paro and transfer to hotel (2,230 m / 7,314 ft.)

After breakfast, proceed to Kathmanu’s International Airport to board the Druk Air flight to Paro (Bhutan), upon arrival meet assist & transfer hotel for some rest and refreshment. Later in the afternoon proceed for a sightseeing tour of Drukyal Dzong en-route weather permitting you can witness the beautiful view of Mt. Jhomolari.  After sightseeing return back to hotel for dinner.

Day 03

Hike to Taktsang Monastery & Meditation.

The hike which is all the way uphill takes about 2 /3 hours through villages and pine forests. The monastery clings to a huge granite cliff 800 meters from the Paro valley. It is believed that the great saint Padmasambhava came in the 7th century on a flying tigress and meditated in a cave for 3 months. The demons were subdued who were trying to stop the spread of Buddhism and converted the Paro valley into Buddhism. During the end of the 17 century a monastery was built on the spot where the saint meditated and it is a pilgrimage site for every Bhutanese to visit once in their life time.

Day 04

Trek from Paro to above Jele Dzong (3,200m / 10,500 ft.)- 6 hrs.

Today is rather a short trekking day so you can relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Paro valley. The hike is gradually uphill through pine forest. Camp will be next to a Dzong which was renovated recently. There is very interesting stories about the Dzong which Guide can tell to members during the dinner time.

Day 05

Trek to Jangchulakha or Shokam (3,650m / 11,972 ft.)- 6 hrs.

Today the trek begins uphill through huge rhododendron trees. You may encounter yak herders during the winter season.

Day 06

Trek to Simkota Tso (3,600m / 11,808 ft.)- 8 hrs.

Jangchulakha to Jana tsho or Simkota tsho.  Today the path descends down first and then gradual climp till you reach Jana tso. The lake at 3600 meters.

Day 07

Trek from Simkota Tsho to Phajoding Lake (3,870m / 12,196 ft.)- 7 hrs.

Begin the day with a gradual climb to a Saddle at 4,180m crossing Phume la pass (4,210 m) marked by  prayer flags. Weather permitting, there are enchanting views of tallest Mountain of Bhtuan called Mt. Gangkhar Puensum (7,541m) and other Himalayan peaks here.  The trail then descends past Thujidrag Goemba, a meditation center hanging on the side of a precipitous rock face continuing further through juniper trees to Phajoding (3,870m), an important pilgrimage site

Day 08

Trek to Thimphu (2,248m / 7,373 ft.)- 4 hrs.

After bid farewell to Camping crew, leave the Camp site and start descent down through forest area mostly blue pine and Juniper. Upon completion of the trek at a road head, meet waiting vehicle and drive by road to Thimphu Town. Upon arrival room check in assistance will be provided. After short lunch and a short break proceed to Tashicho Dzong to witness Thimphu Tsechu Festival.

Day 09

sightseeing tour of thimpu and drive to Paro Town (55km / 1hr & 15 min)

After breakfast transfer to Tashichhodzong, the beautiful medieval fortress/monastery which houses most of the Government’s office and King’s Throne room. Here you can witness the one of the most beautiful festival of Bhutan called Thimphu Tshechu. Please note Tashichhodzone is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Later drive to Paro Town for lunch. Upon arrival Paro town proceed to restaurant for lunch. After lunch proceed for a sightseeing tour of Ta-Dzong and National Museum. After sightseeing tour transfer to hotel for room check in. Rest of the day is free for leisure.

Eve: There will be a speak about the Buddhist philosophy by the Buddhist Monks.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 10

Fly back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast drive to Paro Airport to board the scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu meet assist and transfer to hotel for some rest. Rest of the day is free to explore around Thamel.

Eve: Group Farewell dinner at nice restaurant.

Overnight at Hotel Yak & Yeti.

Day 11

Final departure.

Free until final departure transfer to Kathmandu’s International Airport.
