Itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1341m/4,400 ft).

Upon arrival in Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, meet Himalayan Holidays representative, assist and transfer to the hotel. At the hotel’s lobby welcome refreshments will be served and room check in assistance provided. Shortly afterwards there will be a tour briefing at the hotel’s lobby. Rest of the day is free for leisure.

Eve: Welcome dinner at a Nepali restaurant featuring cultural program.

Day 02

Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, Swyambhunath and Patan City.

Am: After breakfast proceeds for a sightseeing tour Swayambhunath Stupa situated atop a hill from where you could get a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu Valley. The Swayambhunath Stupa is also known as the “Monkey Temple”!! and listed in a world heritage site. 

Later proceed for sightseeing tour of Kathmandu city. It includes visit to the Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square) – an ancient durbar (palace) with its numerous old palaces, temples and pagodas, the Temple of Living Goddess “Kumari”, and the Kasthamandap Temple, which is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree from which Kathmandu derives its name. 

Pm:  Lunch on your own in Kathmandu Durbar Square. After lunch proceed for a sightseeing tour of the ancient Patan City, this ancient city of Patan also known as Lalitpur or the city of fine arts is about five Kilometers southeast of Kathmandu. The city is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. The major tourist attractions of Patan are: 

Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square situated in the heart of the city constitutes the focus of visitor’s attraction, the square is full of ancient palaces, temples and shrines noted for their exquisite carvings. The Patan Durbar consists of three main chowks or courtyards, the central Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Keshav Chowk. The Sundari Chowk holds in its center a masterpiece of stone architecture, the Royal Bath called Tushahity.

Krishna Mandir: Built in the seventeenth century, the temple of Lord Krishna holds a commanding position in the palace complex of Patan. It is supposed to be the first specimen in Nepal. It is the only temple in Nepal; having 21 spire and is completely made of stone.

Mahaboudha: A little further east of Patan Durbar Square lies this Buddhist temple made of clay bricks in which thousands of images of Lord Buddha engraved. The terra-cotta structure is one of the fourteenth century Nepalese architectural masterpiece.

Hiranya Verna Mahavihar: Located inside Kwabadehal, this Lokeshwor (Lord Buddha) was built in the twelfth century by king Bhaskar Verma. Inside the upper storey of the pagoda, are the golden image of Lord Buddha and a large prayer wheel. After the sightseeing tour of Patna city proeed towards the Tibetan Refugee camp about 2 Km south of Patan. Here you can see Tibetan man and women weaving carpets which are mostly exported to the western countries especially Germany, United Kingdom and many others. 

After the tour transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free for leisure.

Day 03

Visit Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath and Bhaktapur City

Am: After breakfast proceed for a tour of Bouddhanath Stupa – an ancient colossal stupa and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world which is also listed in UNISCO world heritage site. 

After the tour of Bouddhanath, proceed for a tour of Pashupatinath Temple – the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River. The temple is listed on a UNISCO World Heritage Site.

Pm:  Later drive to Bhaktapur City, literally the “City of Devotees”, is renowned for its elegant art, fabulous culture, colorful festivals, traditional dances and the typical Newari lifestyle. Here explore the Royal Palace, the Golden Gate, the entrance to the Palace of 55 Windows, known as the most significant piece of art in Nepal. Then visit the highest temple in the entire Kathmandu Valley- the Nyatapola Temple. This is also listed on a UNISCO world heritage site. After sightseeing tour transfer back to hotel.

Eve: Farewell Dinner

Overnight at Dwarika’s hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner,)

Day 04

Final Departure

 Free until final departure transfer to the Tribhuvan International Airport to board the flight to Kathmandu.
