Options I: Muktinath Helicopter Tour from Kathmandu
Captain De-briefing and Fly to Jomsom
Once you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, your guide will take care of all the airport formalities. Then, you need to take part in a brief de-briefing session with your fellow tourists. There your captain will make clear to you some important suggestions which you need to follow during your Heli tour very carefully. After finishing the briefing session, you’ll go for the chopper and take a flight to Jomsom. It is a scenic village which lies in the northeastern part of the Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountain range.
Refueling in Jomsom and Fly to Muktinath Temple
You will reach Jomsom after a short mountain flight of a few minutes, which is in the rain-shadow of the Himalayas. You can witness some lovely mountain scenery and views from the airport. Then you will fly towards Muktinath temple, and within a couple of minutes, you will land on Ranipauwa, which is also known as Muktinath Valley.
From there, you need to walk for 30 minutes in order to reach the temple. Alternatively, you can take a horse ride from the bottom to the top of the temple.
Visit Muktinath Temple
Muktinath temple is a Vishnu temple that is holy to both Hindus and Buddhist pilgrims. It is situated at Muktinath Valley base of Thorong La Mountain Pass, and it is also one of the highest temples in the world with a height of 3,750 meters. Once you land, you have a couple of hours to spend at the temple and click some photos.
You can make an offering, a holy bath in 108 waterspouts and Mukti Kunda (two Kundas in front of the temple). Then, you can visit Jwala Mai Temple and view the stunning views of the nearby surroundings.
Fly Back to Jomsom
Having a great time at Muktinath temple and seeing the grandeur of Muktinath Valley, you’ll come back to Jomsom by flight. Once again, you’ll have a fascinating view of beautiful peaks, a pretty panorama of Kagbeni and Kali Gandaki Valleys, Kali Gandaki Gorge, etc. After a few minutes of flying, you’ll arrive at beautiful Jomsom Valley.
Fly back to Kathmandu
After the great visit to the sacred pilgrimage Hindu and Buddhist sacred sites of Muktinath Temple, you’ll return to the vibrant capital city of Kathmandu.
