Itinerary
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by a beautiful garland of seasonal flowers at the gate of the International Arrival Terminal.

With the final counting and loading of luggage into the vehicle, you will be transferred to the hotel and check in.

After welcome refreshments, there will be a short briefing with the Himalayan Holidays Representative. You get general information and orientation about the trek.

Then you have free time in Kathmandu. You can explore the city.

In the evening – welcome dinner and traditional show in an authentic Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu. You will enjoy your dinner with different types of dances.

The main products of Nepalese cuisine are – rice, wheat, lentils, fresh vegetables and, sometimes, meat. Local chefs turn these ingenious products into pieces of culinary art, dazzling taste, teasing with smell, causing delight of any enthusiast. Food in Nepal is a meal worthy of kings. Very tasty, very spicy, and very diverse– these are the three main features of Nepalese cuisine. This is beyond words. You have to try it!

Day 02

Half Day Sightseeing Tour and Drive to Mulkot - 96 Km/4 Hours

The morning is free to do shopping of trekking gears, and personal things.

In the afternoon, check out from the hotel and start a scenic drive to Mulkot for about 4 hours.

En route to Mulkot, stop in ancient Bhaktapur City, the “City of Devotees”, which is renowned for its elegant art, fabulous culture, colourful festivals, traditional dances and the typical Newari lifestyle. Here explore the Royal Palace, the Golden Gate, and the entrance to the Palace of 55 Windows, known as the most significant piece of art in Nepal. Then visit the highest temple in the entire Kathmandu Valley- the Nyatapola Temple. This is listed on a UNESCO World Heritage site.

After the sightseeing tour, start to drive to Mulkot for about 4 hours via BP Highway to about 96 Km. Upon arrival at Mulkot, check into the resort and get refreshments with swimming.

Day 03

Drive to Manthali - 34 Km/1.5 Hours Fly To Lukla-30 minutes & start Trek to Phakding (2,610m/8,563ft.) – 3 Hours

Early morning, drive to Manthali Airport to board an onward flight to Lukla (2840m). This 30-minute flight provides a magnificent entry to the trek. It highlights the snowline of the Himalayan Range in the north and the rugged landing at the Lukla airport, which is said to be one of the most spectacular flights in the world.

Upon arrival at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla, meet the trekking support team, assistant guide & porters. Before commencing the trek, stop at a nearby lodge for hot tea/coffee and light snacks. Then start to trek to Phakding for about 3 hours by exploring the charming town of Lukla with hotels and shops lining both sides of the traditional cobbled street. At the end of town, there is a check post where we need to get the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit and Sagarmatha National Park Permit Fee. The trail is downhill and easy to walk and passes through beautiful human settlements of Chheplung, Thadokoshi, and Ghat, and ultimately descends to Phakding (2,610m).

Day 04

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,284ft) – 7 Hours

With the rule of 6-7-8, we will have breakfast at 7 a.m. and walk at 8 a.m. towards Namche Bazar. This day, most of the trekkers find it a little bit difficult as we will gain 830m of elevation within 6 hours. For the first half, the trail is easy following the river bank. At Monjo, we will stop at the check post to check the permits enter Sagaramatha National Park and descend to Jorsalle where we will stop for Lunch.

Leave the main village and follow the trail on the left bank of the Dudhkoshi River.

Walking for 30 minutes more, we will reach Hillary Bridge from where we will walk uphill. Near halfway, we will get a chance to see Mt. Everest (8,848.86m), Lhotse (8,516m), Taboche, Kusum Kanguru (6,339m), Thamserku, and many other peaks. After climbing for 3 hours we will reach Namche Bazar.

This prosperous town is the largest in Khumbu. Mt. Thamserku (6,648m) and Kwangde Ri (6,624m) loom along the east and west of the village. The sacred mountain Khumbila (5,707m) dominates the skyline along the west.

Day 05

Rest day for acclimatization in Namche Bazaar.

On this day we will explore Namche in the morning time. Before leaving Namche Bazar, we will visit the Sherpa Cultural Museum, Mount Everest Documentation Center, Sagarmatha National Park Museum and Tenzing Norgay Memorial.

Then we will continue to walk towards Everest View Hotel. En route, we will stop at Shyangboche Airstrip (3,775m) to visit Sagarmatha Next. At the Visitors Centre, you will find information about Sagarmatha National Park and the Khumbu region including History, Geography, Culture, Climbing and trekking, Flora and fauna, as well as the environmental challenges that we are facing and possible solutions. Then continue walking to Hotel Everest View (3,880m) and return to Namche Bazar.

Day 06

Trek to Deboche (3,710m/12,170ft) via Thyangboche Monastery - 6 Hours

After breakfast, start an uphill walk to reach the North-east top of Namche Bazar and take a straightened path from where we will get a stunning view of the Himalayan Ranges including, Thamserku, Kangtenga, Mt. Amadablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Mt. Everest, Taboche, and many other snowcapped peaks. From Kyangjuma, we will descend to Phungi Tenga (3,200m) and stop for Lunch. After crossing the river, we will climb slowly the steep trail to Tengboche and visit the monastery.

The Tengboche Monastery is one of the most important monasteries in the Khumbu Region and the traditional place where all Everest Expeditions receive their blessings as they walk towards the base camp.

After visiting Thyangboche Monastery a short, steep and muddy descent to Deboche through the forest of birches, conifers and rhododendrons.

Day 07

Trek to Dingboche (4,410m/14,464ft) - 6 Hours

After breakfast, we will walk to Dingboche. The trail is easy and a little uphill climb to Pangboche, the oldest village in Khumbu Region. The horizon from here to Dingboche is dominated by Ama Dablam, (6,812m). We have to walk 45 minutes to reach Somare, where we will stop for lunch. Then, we will walk through the open valley through the front yards of huts cross the river and climb uphill. After an hour, we will reach Dingboche and check into the lodge.

Day 08

Rest day for acclimatization.

As per the study on high altitude sickness, it has been found that most people suffer or show signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) from an altitude of 14,000 ft. Thus it is highly recommended to have a rest day to acclimatize at this altitude before starting an ascent. On this day, you will hike to NangkarTshang or Chukkung Valley for 5 hours.

Day 09

Trek to Lobuche (4,910m/16,104ft) - 6 Hours

After a short climb to a ridge over Dingboche, the trail is a gentle walk on a flat path to Thugla. On the way, you can watch the beautiful view of Mt. Cholatese (6,442m) back on the west side of the route and Mt. Amadablam to the rear. After arrival at the ridge, descend, for about ten minutes, cross a bridge and arrive at Thugla for a short break. After Lunch, there is a steep ascent for about one hour to the ridge where there is a Sherpa memorial in remembrance of those brave mountaineers who died during Expeditions.

Further on the trail leads to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier with views of Pumori or Widow’s Peak in the foreground. The stark and rugged beauty creates almost a moonscape. After an hour of steady trekking through the moraine, we will reach Lobuche which is situated in a wind-swept valley with views of the Tawatse (6,501m) and Nuptse (7,855m).

Day 10

Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17,594ft) via Gorekshep (5,160m/16,925ft) - 8 Hours

From Lobuche, the trail will be along the Khumbu Glacier through the jumbled moraines and scattered rocks. The trail continues to slowly contour on the open landscape through ablation and after about an hour, there is a steep ascent for about 20 minutes. Climb slowly to a ridge and then continue on a trail of rocks caused by rockslides. On a clear day, Mt. Everest can be seen looming behind Nuptse.

Upon arriving at Gorekshep, stop for lunch, make a day pack and start hiking to Everest Base Camp following the Khumbu Glacier. The trail continues on a ridge between Pumori and Nuptse. After we reach Everest Base Camp, (Symbolic by a giant stone written with Everest Base Camp (5,364m), we will spend a few minutes clicking pictures around the base camp area. However, the highlight of the trip to this place is the sight of the Khumbu icefall. And return to Gorekshep for an overnight stay.

Day 11

Climb Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,180ft) - 3 Hours and trek down to Pheriche (4,210m/13,808ft) - 7 Hours

Early morning wakes up, prepares a day pack, takes the left-hand side trail and heads straight up the hill to Kala Patthar (5,545m) for views of Mt. Everest. The trek up to the top is an arduous one and takes about an hour and a half to two to reach. The early morning is the best time to view Mt. Everest from this vantage point as the sun is behind the observer and directly on the mountains in front. This hike offers a 360-degree view of giant peaks, Pumori (7,161m), Everest (8,848.86m), and China’s peaks Changtse (7,553m), Nuptse (7,855m), Lhotse (8,516m), Ama Dablam and many others. Later return to Gorakshep for breakfast.

After breakfast backtrack via Lobuche towards the ridgeline Sherpa Memorial and then descend steeply to Thugla. Crossing the river, descend to the valley and walk along to reach Pheriche.

Day 12

Back track to Namche (3,447m / 11,300 ft) – 7 Hours

After having breakfast, start the trek to Kyangjuma. Following the river banks, we will descend to Pangboche via Somare and after a little downhill walk, we will again climb to Thyanboche, which is the perfect place to stop for lunch.

After lunch, the trail is steep downhill to Phungi Tenga and climbs to Kyangjuma. The trail has a few ups and downs while overlooking amazing views of the high Himalayas. Then continue the trek towards Namche by following the path around the eastern flanks of the hills. At the rear is the beautiful west face of the Thamserku (6,608m) and Kangtenga (6,685m). Upon arrival at Namche Bazar, check into the lodge and you are free for personal activities.

Day 13

Back track to Lukla (2,840m/9,315ft) - 8 Hours

In the morning, start to descend from Namche Bazaar following the same route towards Hillary Bridge. The trail passes the beautiful villages of Jorsalle, Monjo, Chhumoa and other small human settlements and reaches Phakding. We pass through small settlements constructing new lodges. It is interesting to watch others starting enthusiastically on the trek ahead as we head down to our campsite at Lukla. it is a surprisingly hard uphill climb to Lukla, which should take about 3 hours. It is a delightful ending to the trip as one enters the busy village of Lukla. Later check-in at the lodge and refreshments.

Day 14

Fly to Kathmandu (30 min) & transfer to hotel.

Early morning, fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, meet, assist and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for shopping and personal activities.

Day 15

Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City.

This day is a contingency day just in case of bad weather and the flight couldn’t operate.

Free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities or sightseeing tours (on your own), last-minute shopping, bag packing, etc.

Day 16

Final departure from Nepal

Timely transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport to board an onward flight to home country 3 hours earlier than the scheduled flight departing time. We wish you a happy journey during your flight from Nepal to your home country with the hope to see you on your next visit to Nepal.

You can get On-Arrival Visa at Tribhuvan International Airport after you arrive at the Airport in Nepal. You can fill up online application through the link below which is valid for 15 days (please fill up within 15 days of arrival date) and bring the printed copy with you and submit at the immigration counter.

Best season for trekking in Nepal is from March to May and September to mid December. During this time weather is clear and warm.

It is compulsory to have your travel insurance before you visit Nepal. For trekking and Alpine Climbing you must have High Altitude Insurance. And check the altitude in the insurance. The insurance policy must cover the expenses of trip cancellation or any baggage lost, medical expenses and emergency evacuation expenses. You can check the reliable insurance company of your own country so that you can claim for it after you return to home country. You can go through the insurance company such as

You must be physically fit and healthy for trekking in Nepal. It’s better to do at least 2 hours morning or evening walk to prepare yourself for this trekking. Please let us know in advance if you have any medical problems like heart disease, asthma and blood pressure.

Difficulty level depends upon the remoteness and altitude of the trekking route. Basically, trekking below 3,000m is easy. Higher the altitude, its  more difficult to walk.

In trekking, wide variety of food is available. Teahouses prepare Nepali food, Indian food and Continental food as per menu. All the foods are freshly prepared. We suggest you not to consume meat items during the trekking.

Basically, we accommodate our clients in 4 and 5 star hotel in Kathmandu and best available teahouse lodges on twin sharing basis and facilitated with attached bathrooms wherever available. For luxury package, we accommodate you in luxury hotels and lodges in trekking as well.

In teahouse trekking basic facilities are available, with clean rooms, blankets, freshly cooked warm food. Sometimes there will be common toilets and bathrooms outside your room. Warm water is available for shower on extra cost.

Means of transportation depends on places you travel. We have our own fleet of transportation like car, jeep, Hiace and Coaster tourist bus for ground transfer. Domestic airplane and helicopter are used for air transportation.

Weather in the Mountains is highly unpredictable. So we should always be prepared to tackle the cold. From March to May and September to November in the morning and evening temperature will be (from 3000m to 6000m) 0 degree Celsius to 5 degree Celsius, in afternoon it will rise up to 20 degree Celsius to 25 degree Celsius and at night it might fall down till -5 degree Celsius to -10 degree Celsius. Similarly, during winter i.e. December, January and February there will be heavy snowfall in the Mountains dropping temperature till -15 degree Celsius at night. Morning and evening will be around -5 to 5 degree Celsius and temperature will rise upto 15 degree Celsius during day time. And our monsoon season from June to August where we expect heavy and continuous rainfall. But if we go above 3000m altitude ratio of rainfall will decrease. Temperature during day will reach upto 25 degree Celsius high and reduce till 0 degree Celsius to -5 degree Celsius. Morning and evening will be chill from 5 degree Celsius to 15 degree Celsius.

For trekking in the Mountains you will need very warm, windproof, waterproof clothes. You must bring trekking/hiking boot which is comfortable to wear and walk. Beside that quick dry t-shirt, trouser and towel is important.

On average you have to walk 6 to 8 hours a day covering 12 to 20km in distance.

Health and safety of our clients is a major concern of our company. All our guides have got first aid training. Your guide will be carrying first aid kit and satellite phone during the trekking in case of emergency and we can use the helicopter service for immediate evacuation.

Yes, you can use your debit/credit card in Kathmandu. We suggest you to carry cash (Nepali Currency) during the trekking for your personal expenses.

If its Altitude Sickness problem then we will immediately carry you down to lower altitude. We will take you to the nearby health post and if the case is serious we will immediately do helicopter rescue and admit in major hospitals in  Kathmandu.

We have included rest/spare day in your itinerary to acclimatize in the thin air. Your guide will encourage you to drink more soup and garlic which is believed to help in high altitude. Besides that, your guide will be carrying medicine (Diamox) to reduce altitude sickness.

Giving tips to your guide and porters is a small gesture of thank you for your service. We don’t fix the amount of tips but it’s completely depends on the level of satisfaction from your guide and porters service during your trekking. This small gesture will really help to support their family living. Tipping system in Nepal is 10% of the amount that you paid for your trip.

Yes there are telephones and internet facilities available in the most places during trekking. Your guide is always carrying a mobile phone, you can request him to make international call and in return you can recharge/top-up or give small amount as international call charge.

Yes all your electronic gadgets charging facility is available on your trekking. They do charge NRS 300 to NRS 700 for service depending on your gadgets such as mobile phone, power banks, camera, etc.
