Why trek to the Annapurna Base Camp?

Among Nepal’s many trekking regions, Annapurna Base Camp Trek stands apart—not just because of its diverse terrains or the breathtaking Kali Gandaki Valley (the deepest gorge in the world), but because of the pristine views of the endless gorges, lush green forests, waterfalls, and the Himalayas. With over 1,226 species of flora, 400 species of exotic birds, and rare sightings such as the Himalayan Bluebells, the trail teems with natural life. The biodiversity amidst the misty ridges greets you at every turn. This trek is nothing short of magical, and every person who visits returns with a deeply spiritual experience.

Day 1–2: The Trail Begins—Birethanti to Jhinu Danda
Our adventure begins in Birethanti, a small village located approximately 3–4 hours northwest of Pokhara. After a long but scenic drive, your tired limbs will be rewarded by the warm smiles of lodge owners welcoming you to the trailhead. From here, we hike towards Nayapul (New Bridge)—a steady 5–6 hour walk through peaceful farmlands and gentle forested slopes. The next stop is Jhinu Danda, a famous stop along the Annapurna Base Camp trek route known for its natural hot springs—a rejuvenating gem tucked 30 minutes downhill from the main village. Soak your aching legs in warm, mineral-rich waters by the riverside, and prepare for the more demanding climbs ahead.

Day 3–4: Chhomrong and the Climb Within
Next up is Chhomrong (2,170 m), a beautiful hilltop village with spellbinding views of Annapurna South. The climb is steep and challenging, especially for beginners, but the reward is immeasurable. The climb, although tiring, is worth the hard work, especially to witness the early sunrise view from between snowcapped mountains, which will be immensely rewarding, fading away your doubts.

Day 5–6: Entering the Sacred Valley—Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp
The trail now carves through Deurali (3,230 m) and into the Mardi Khola Valley, where cascading rainbow-striped waterfalls tumble down from cliffs cloaked in mist. Wild Himalayan flowers dance in the wind. It’s here that heaven seems to meet Earth. By afternoon, we reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m). This serene spot, sitting at the foot of the sacred “Fishtail” peak, is a place of reflection and awe. Some trekkers rest here for the night, while others, driven by excitement, continue the climb onward to Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 7: Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)—A Himalayan Pilgrimage
Reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) is not just an achievement—it’s a spiritual moment. Surrounded by towering giants like Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I & III, Gangapurna, and Gandharvachuli, you’re encircled by a 360° amphitheatre of snow and silence. Many describe it as sacred, a place of humility and cosmic clarity. We’ve seen it in the eyes of countless travellers: wonder, joy, even tears. For many, this moment is life-defining. And for some, like our founder, it sparked a lifelong love for Nepal’s mountains.

Best Time to Trek Annapurna
