All these rocks were lava plugs from an ancient extinct volcano. The City of Sigiriya has a different type of gardens: water garden, cave gardens, boulder gardens, and terraced gardens.   • The highest peak is Mt. Piduruthalagala at over 8200 feet or 2524 meters high.
